For 255 years, we've crafted Spode collections with the same quality and craftsmanship as our founder, Josiah Spode I, nurturing his legacy of innovation, craftsmanship and distinguished design.
Spode is an eclectic mix of beautiful designs, that each tell a story of our illustrious heritage. The perfect mix of timeless style, ceramic mastery and daring curiosity, our bold collections are as unique as the people that own them. Read on to discover Spode’s beautifully bold patterns...

Blue Italian
The Blue Italian pattern, first produced in 1816, remains a celebrated ceramic design. Josiah Spode II masterfully employed his father’s blue underglaze printing method to create this enduring collection, reflecting the evolving trends of the time. As affluent young men embarked on European Grand Tours, it fuelled a passion for European landscapes and so Spode adeptly responded, blending this trend with existing oriental influences to create the perfect mix of the two.
The precise origins of the Blue Italian design have long been a source of fascination. It's now believed the iconic pattern is a harmonious amalgamation of a 17th-century pastoral landscape by Claude Lorraine and a traditional Chinese border. This enduring design, a testament to Spode's legacy, has remained a beloved classic for over two centuries, providing a diverse range of products for avid collectors and design enthusiasts. The perfect collection for bringing effortless charm and timeless design to the home.
Steccato
The newest patten to join Spode’s eclectic mix of designs, Steccato is a celebration of classic blue and white design, reimagined with striking stripe details. Crafted in the UK, Steccato offers a bold and sophisticated approach to table setting. Its design versatility allows for both standalone styling, emphasising the mix weight of stripes within the collection, and seamless layering with the much-loved Blue Italian design.
The collection features everything you need to set a table full of eye-catching detail and personality. Layer dinner plates and side plates with salad plates and bowls, pairing alongside matching stripe mugs, teacups, and espresso cups too. You can also set the scene for a celebratory tea party with a statement teapot, coordinating sugar bowl and milk jug. The hand painted woodland setting has been applied across dinner plates, side plates, bowls, platters and vases. An informal, versatile collection that brings the colours of nature to the table.
