Care & Use
Portmeirion’s tableware is designed for modern living and is both oven-to-table and dishwasher safe. It has been designed to perform at temperatures normally used when cooking - Porcelain tableware up to 200°C / 400°F / UK Gas Mark 6 and Earthenware tableware up to 170°C / 340°F / UK Gas Mark 3 . It is also microwave safe* (providing the dish is at least ½ full with food or liquid).
* Microwave safe items can be identified by the wording “Microwave Safe” on their Backstamp.
Freezer to Oven You can transition from freezer to oven (provided the dish is at least half full with food or liquid).
Important Note Gold-accented collections (including Spode Christmas Tree Gold, Sara Miller London Chelsea, Celestial, and Piccadilly collections) are not microwave safe.
- Heat tableware gradually; avoid placing it directly into a hot oven.
- Ensure tableware is completely dry before placing it in the oven or microwave.
- Never place empty ware in a microwave or hot oven; always include food or liquid.
- Avoid direct heat sources like hobs.
All Portmeirion earthenware and porcelain tableware can be cleaned easily in the dishwasher or by hand with conventional hand-wash detergents.
Ceramic items with gold or metallic decorations are typically not suitable for microwaves or dishwashers unless specified.
Dishwasher safe items can be identified by the wording ‘Dishwasher Safe’ on their backstamp.
Incorrect washing can result in faults such as fading of print and crazing (spider web-like cracks). Crazing is a result of water soaking into the earthenware body and expanding when heated in a high dishwasher temperature cycle.
By washing your ceramic ware as soon as possible after use and following these guidelines should help maintain the appearance and functionality of your Portmeirion Ceramic Tableware.
Pre-Clean
- Avoid abrasive materials for food residue.
- Do not soak items in water to remove residues to prevent crazing.
- Rinse residues with a damp cloth.
Loading the Dishwasher
- Place items without contact with other items/surfaces.
- Keep metallic items separate from ceramics.
Cleaning Cycle
- Use water softeners to prevent lime scale build-up, especially in hard water areas.
- Use a mild liquid detergent, less abrasive than powders/tablets.
- Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for detergent quantity.
- Avoid direct contact between items and detergent.
- Use a low-temperature program as specified by the manufacturer.
Post Clean
- Open the dishwasher door after the cycle to prevent condensation.
- Allow items to air dry.
- Do not stack hot or wet ceramic items.

Our candles undergo rigorous testing to meet the highest quality and safety standards. Always follow safety information that accompanies the candle:
- Remove all outer packaging before lighting.
- Keep candles away from direct sunlight and heat sources, such as a fire or a radiator, as this can affect the way the candle burns. Remember, items such as television sets also get hot and therefore treated as a source of heat.
- Place candles 10cm apart from each other.
- Keep away from flammable materials like curtains, bedding, clothing and hair and ensure adequate space above the candle.
- Avoid burning in drafts to prevent uneven burning.
- Place on a stable, flat surface.
- Trim the wick to 0.5cm before lighting; if the flame is too large, extinguish it, allow the wax to harden and trim the wick.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not touch or move when lit or hot.
- Use a candle snuffer to extinguish.
- Avoid foreign objects falling into the candle.
- Always use a heat resistant holder or base
- With use of tealight holders, never touch the tealight or holder when the candle is lit. Wait for the holder to cool before moving.

Reed Diffusers
- Control the scent level by using more reeds for a stronger scent. Four to five reeds work well for a small rooms, or to create a more subtle scent.
- Flip reeds every two weeks for enhanced diffusion.
- Always place on a protective plate to prevent surface damage from the liquid. Reeds may stain painted surfaces or other materials such as wallpaper, curtains, polished or synthetic surfaces or fabrics.
- Larger rooms may need more reeds or multiple diffusers.
- Avoid heat sources, such as radiators to prolong scent release.
