Special touches to spread the Christmas sparkle

Special touches to spread the Christmas sparkle

‘Tis the season of celebration and reflection, saying thank you to the wonderful people in your life and making others and you feel special. So, to help with this, we’re sharing our top three ideas for special touches to add to your festivities to help spread the Christmas sparkle.

1. Homemade gifts

You can’t beat a homemade gift from a loved one. Not only are they truly unique, but they are an oh-so-thoughtful way to let someone know how much you care and appreciate them. And if there is ever a time to express this, then it’s Christmas! Homemade gifts can also be more sustainable and affordable, repurposing items and materials you already have to create fabulous gifts that will be treasured.

If you have a creative side, homemade gifts are perfect for showing off your hidden talent while gifting others something really special. Whether it’s a knitted treat, such as a homemade scarf, a coaster for their favourite mug, or a piece of artwork, think about what would bring the recipient joy and create something just for them.

If you’re not as naturally creative but still like the idea of gifting something homemade, edible gifts are the answer. Festive-inspired biscuits or cupcakes are easy treats to bake at home and can be very impressive, while chutneys are great for batch baking and can be gifted to several people.

Just remember, even if the end result of your homemade gift isn’t perfect, the time and thought you have invested will be appreciated by the lucky recipient.

2. Set the scene

If you’re hosting a get-together this festive season, whether it’s cocktails with friends, a casual movie night or a family dinner, one way to make it feel extra joyful for your guests is to set the scene with lots of special touches.

We’re taking inspiration from Lily @layered.home who’s created a magical Christmas wonderland for both children and adults to adore. Spode’s Christmas Tree collection is the perfect tableware and serveware for creating a festive moment, whatever the occasion. From plates and platters to glassware and decorations, fill your table and home with joy with this nostalgic pattern.

Alongside festive tableware, touches such as twinkly lights, candles, coloured textiles, and seasonal accents, such as foliage and festive baubles, add to the feeling of warmth and cosiness, helping guests to feel relaxed and truly spoilt in your home.

3. Make it personal

Adding a personal touch, whatever the occasion, goes a long way to showing your loved ones how much they mean to you. When it comes to Christmas, one way of adding a personal touch includes a personalised gift. Our Kit Kemp Alphabet Mugs are a wonderful choice for a tailored gift, featuring a beautifully designed initial on a mug they will treasure for years.

You can also add a personal touch to your get-togethers. Surprise guests with a personalised place setting, such as our DIY tassel napkin place cards, to make them smile. Simply, write your guest’s names on a piece of shaped card, tie some ribbon around a folded napkin, add a tassel and the name card on either side and secure with a bow.

When planning your festive get-togethers, think about your guest list and take into consideration their favourite food, drink and music to incorporate into the evening. A subtle yet very thoughtful touch that will make guests feel instantly at home.
