A Classic Christmas Dinner Menu with Spode
On 25th December, 76 per cent of British families will sit down for their Christmas lunch and feast on a traditional Christmas dinner menu of turkey with all the trimmings.
Why do we eat turkey on Christmas Day?
The humble turkey was brought to Britain more than 500 years ago by William Strickland, a Yorkshireman who obtained six birds from American Indian traders on his travels. Prior to the introduction of turkeys, boars’ head, peacock and geese featured on the Christmas dinner menu. But farmers quickly realised that their other livestock could be saved to produce more milk and eggs, and turkey became a staple part of the traditional Christmas dinner menu.
In this blog post we’ve compiled a list of sources for you to create a mouth-watering traditional Christmas dinner menu. And of course, a delicious feast wouldn’t be complete without a breathtaking table, so ensure you dish-up your festive meal on our iconic Spode Blue Italian, which families have been serving their turkeys on since 1816.
