Canton pattern was produced in several versions and was first recorded in about 1877 and was produced on an earthenware body. The different versions used the same design but were decorated in different colours.

The pattern was printed and then handpainted and followed the style of Oriental designs. The pattern was produced on a wide range of tableware.
