The Age of Romance series of plates was introduced in 1991 with pattern number F1720.

The plates depict Cunard ships and there are 6 in the series

A blue border edged with a rope design surrounds the central images of the ships. The border is decorated with ship's wheels, and panels featuring a ship on the high seas in a stylised map of the world.

The back of the plates are inscribed with full details of the ship depicted along with the Spode backstamp and copyright Cunard. The latter suggests that this was probably a special commission from Cunard although there is nothing in the archive to confirm this.
